The man from Del Monte

As I downed some Tropicana I thought whatever happened to the man from Del Monte. The more I thought about it the more I realised what an awful concept the man from Del Monte was. An executive from a large European multinational wearing an off white colonial style linen suit, flys into assorted agriculture dependent third world villages and decides whether his company will purchase that seasons harvest based soley on his opinion of the single orange he tastes. Wa? Who did this advert appeal to? Misanthropic racists who like juice? Did they revel in all the lives ruined, all children not sent to school, all the poverty caused by the man from Del Monte when he rejected a villages harvest? Was the quality of juice that important to them? Did they think 'The man from Del Monte. Tough but fair. He will ensure the quality of my juice, despite the dire consequences'.
That said I can't remember him ever rejected an orange, but an advert showing the man and his entourage being beaten to death by angry villagers probably would'nt have worked either.
